Georgia Marshes
Savannah is a historical city once formally the capital of Georgia due to the export and import of goods coming from the harbor. The river runs down channels leading into the marshland and smaller rivers that go through out the city. Over the years the amount of ships and pollution from factories has tainted the water. EPA listed savannah as the second worst environmental offenders and is listed the third most toxic in the country. The city wants to dig in the river deepening it to allow larger ships to pass through which will only increase the problem; one of which would be affecting the habitats of some species of fish. In order to pay for the river expansion the federal funding for savannah is pulling funds from environmental protection.
